6(?)year old Lenovo, cpu fpu,mmx and sse internal errors

This thing goes into a perpetual hold state often. Internal diag with Lenovo Rescue/recovery reveals the stated errors, PC doctor 5 windows diag says all ok.
Defrag reveals 360 excessive fragged files, recommending a boot time(?) defrag for $60 that isn't supported in this set or Vista premium. I've done the dust removal trick.
I have put pix,docs,music to disc and written down key bookmarks.
Is there some program to transfer all to an external hard drive and would all the fragmentation be cleared up in the exchange or is the root of my ills really the AMD internal errors? Unemp and not ready to get a laptop just yet. Thank you.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your system, however I can only answer questions regarding our software.
However, I am sure if you do a Google search for transferring data to an external drive, you will come up with several hits.
