Title: Device Discovery error (PCD 7,9)
Post by: Thomas K on September 26, 2016, 10:54:43 am
Trying to run PC Doctor on windows 8.1 64 bit, from cd (not installed).

PC Doctor Service Center 7.9

The device discovery process was unable to finish discovering
devices.  This may prevent you from running all available diagnostics
or generating complete system information reports.

When I click 'ok' it just keeps going as if trying to discover the hardware... "Detecting Hardware".

Is this a matter of an issue with the version of PC Doctor with the OS?

Unfortunately Service Center 7 will have compatibility issues with your 64bit windows 8.1 install. Have you attempted to run the diagnostics in bootable mode outside of the OS? This will eliminate some incompatibilities.

That being said, if your running new hardware, 7.9 may not have tests for all of your devices.

Thanks, I've been considering updating to a newer version but this is all I have for now.

And yes, that's my next step, I'd never tried on 8.0+, always attempted to boot from CD, but with the UEFI systems, thats been harder and harder to do.
