Attempted a system recovery on this computer, and it failed claiming "bad factory image." Now, the hard drive partition that originally had Windows has been reformatted. Decided to give PC-Doctor a whirl on the HDD, and got the following on the quick tests:

Code: [Select]
HDD-0: WDC WD6400AAKS-65A7B2 / 01.03B01 / WD-WCASY7018307
ODD-0: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653R / 0301

Batch Mode: 6 - Short HD Test

HDD-0 Random Seek.......................
Drive not responding - unable to complete test.
HDD-0 Random Seek.......................FAILED  01/01/2002 16:34

Testing was aborted.

After the Funnel Seek test failed, it kept flashing "Starting Fixed Disk 0: ..." but went nowhere, causing me to abort the test.

What exactly is "HBA Busy?" Is the hard drive failing?

I have passed this information on to one of our engineers to review.  Once I hear back from him I will let you know.

Definition of HBA:
A HBA, or Host Bus Adapter, is the interface card which connects a host to a SAN (Storage Area Network). It is an electronic circuit board and/or integrated circuit adapter that offers input/output (I/O) operations and physical connectivity among a server and a storage device.A HBA, or Host Bus Adapter, is the interface card which connects a host to a SAN (Storage Area Network). Thank you. I look forward to your reply.

I just need to know if the hard drive is failing or not. If so, I'll need to replace it. If not, I'll have to order recovery discs from HP.

Hello,

To better troubleshoot this issue the engineer looking into the issue has asked if you could provide a tech support form.  To generate the form, launch the DOS build and expand the Utility menu.  About mid way down there is a Tech Support Form menu item, select it and press F5 to run.  Please attach the file to this post or copy in the results.

Thank you,
