Title: Something wrong with my USB dongle
Post by: cams on November 10, 2009, 03:57:52 am
I just put my new pc-doctor USB dongle into a Windows XP laptop and nothing happened. There's no setup.exe file on it and I can't get anything to work. Have I messed up the dongle? It says on the wee card that I can use the Multipurpose USB Device Restore Tool in the installer but that's not there either. I only used it once before and it worked that time (also on an XP machine) but now it's not working. Can someone please help!?

Thanks
I have my serial number but won't post it here for reasons of security.

I think I see what I'm doing wrong. There should be a CD and the dongle, is that right? The CD will have all the installation files and the dongle has the validation info? I don't have the CD in my pouch so I must have left it in the last computer I ran it on, which thankfully was my own.

cams,

You are correct the CD will Boot and the Dongle is the validation.

The dongle does contain a bootable DOS build and if the system is set to boot from USB key you will be able to run the DOS diagnostics without the CD.
