I have been doing a PC-Doctor Diagnostics (release 11/29/01)check on an IBM Thinkpad R30 running Win 2000 Pro and all was going well until it got stuck on the part of < Memory Test, Patterns > whirring away happily for half an hour but showing no progress in the progress bar. When I tried to Abort it would not abort, When I tried to shut the application down with Alt Cntrl Del it did not want to shut down and when it did finally, background memory usage was somehow running at a maximum (with no application shown as running!). Finally I closed down windows and rebooted. What is this telling me? How long should a normal Memory Test take?

stormbird8,
It sounds like there may be a problem with PC-Doctor, something may be corrupted or misconfigured. Look on the IBM site and see if there is a newer PCDR version available for your machine. If there is not download the same PCDR version you have and reinstall it.
