Title: Service Center discs linked to dongles?
Post by: EasyTech.588 on June 12, 2010, 12:48:30 pm
Hi there:

We here at Staples use Service Center 6 for some of our diagnostic tests.  We've lost the bootable CD for the diagnostic.  We've still got the CD/DVD test media and the USB dongle, but there's not a lot we can do for systems that can't boot to the OS.  Our other store also has service center 6.  Can we make a copy of their CD and still use our dongle or are discs coded to each dongle specifically?

Thanks!
Chris

[EDIT] for systems that can't boot to the OS or a USB device*

Your Store was shipped Ct 7 kit, have MOD check with DM/EMT to get new cd for 6 or info on where your new kit went. PS - You can boot right from the PC Dr USB for most system from the last few yrs. No cd needed

EasyTech.588,

The dongles are not coded to a specific CD.  Infact you can make backup copies of the CD and use them, keeping the distribution media safe.
