trying to boot a customers Laptop with the PC-Doctor CD in the CD-Rom Drive and the supplied USB dongle in the USB port.  It brings up the software on the screen but when I try to run any tests it stops at "authorizing" and gets no further than that.  Cannot run PC-Doctor in Windows on this laptop as I cannot get into the O.S. at this point!!

Any ideas?

Eztech205,

Some BIOS's do not have low level USB support but rely on Windows and its drivers to "turn them on".  Please try the following;

Set the laptop BIOS to boot from a USB device.  The Service Center dongle (Multipurpose USB Device) has the DOS version of PC-Doctor on it and is bootable.

In order to boot from the Multipurpose USB device certain BIOS settings
must be adjusted on most systems.  In the system BIOS configuration,
modify the boot device order so that USB is the first boot option. You
may also need to enable USB legacy support or configure the USB drive
emulation mode.  Some systems have other USB related options that must
also be configured.

In a low percentage of cases booting from the USB or accessing it from DOS is not an option. In such cases we may provide a Service Center 5 for DOS Legacy Systems CD, this will usually get you around this issue.  Please contact the sales department to request one.  sales@pc-doctor.com
