Windows

  • When running the TV Tuner Tests - Analog TV Tuner or Capture To Screen - will result in a message, "Error creating filter graph." This happens because Service Center for Windows is a 32-bit application (running in 64-bit environment) and
DirectShow cannot automatically create a filter graph in this cross-bit situation.
  • The Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller has been observed to cause BSODs on attached storage devices when running diagnostics and performing large file copies. This was observed on driver versions 1.2.0.1002 and 1.2.0.1006. As of this writing, 1.2.0.1006 is the most recent driver.
  • Printable Reports are unable to display the Company Logo in Internet Explorer 7 because IE 7 cannot display an image that is base64 encoded in an HTML file. IE 8 and 9, Firefox, and Chrome do not have this issue.
  • Running the Standby or Hibernate Tests causes the Multipurpose USB Device to not be found after resuming from Standby or Hibernate. This is caused when the USB controller does not wake up in a timely manner or fails to wake up altogether.
  • Hard Drive Cache and Pattern Tests may have a test result of DEVICE BUSY if the drive being is in use.

DOS

  • Enumeration of optical disc drives (ODD) in DOS require that the Status Register be in the active state. When the Multipurpose USB Device (MUD) is used to boot into Service Center for DOS, some ODDs have been observed to incorrectly leave the Status Register in the inactive state. This cannot happen when booting from the Diagnostics CD.
  • The Service Center for DOS mouse driver has been observed to intermittently have issues on a very small subset of systems. This results in use of a mouse outside of the Mouse Interactive Test resulting in possible errors.
  • Service Center for DOS is only supported with the included DR-DOS copy. While it can be accomplished using another version of DOS (e.g., MS-DOS), there may be integration problems that PC-Doctor will not support.
  • Service Center for DOS boots into the MENU. Pressing "n" on the keyboard will lockup the software and require a reboot.
  • An IEEE 1394 controller that does not have external connectors will enumerate IEEE 1394 ports as testable devices. Microsoft Windows will disable some devices from discovery on the PCI bus such as a 1394 controller which has no port connection, however, in both Windows PE and DOS, the hardware will communicate with PC-Doctor if the controller does exist on the motherboard and is not physically disabled.
  • The CMOS RAM Test was expanded upon with the updates to Service Center 7.9, but it has been reported that some systems are incorrectly failing. To ensure you are not experiencing a false failure, we recommend you run the CMOS tests in Service Center for Windows.

Windows PE

  • Service Center for Windows PE utilizes Microsoft's Windows Pre-Boot Environment (PE) 2.1 that does not have EHCI drivers, which prevents USB 3.0 ports from functioning with the Multipurpose USB Device. This results in a license authentication error.

I'm curious if there is a list of what was new/removed from 7.9 to 8.0.  I have  8.0 bin & cue files on my computer that I never upgraded to and was hoping to find out ho worthwhile the upgrade might still be.

Thanks.
