My Laptop Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7012 would not start at all.
I ran both Quick Hard Drive Test and Normal Hard Drive tests. The message appears:
HDD-0 Controller Failed
HDD-0 Smart Status check Failed

I tried to copy all the data on the other computer. The hard drive is not responding at all. Can I somehow recover data from the failed hard drive? I read all the responses on the other forums and everyone changed the hard drive to the new one. Any advice?

Thank You

PC-Tech,

The disk controller is the circuit which enables the CPU to communicate with a hard disk.  If this and the SMART status are failing then the drive is bad.  I am not aware of a sure fire solution to getting data off of a bad hard drive.  However, a simple Google search "recovery data off a bad hard drive" will display several possible avenues.
