When running PC service Center 7.5 for DOS I get seek failures when BIOS for SATA drive is set for AHCI.  There are no seek failures when the BIOS is set for ATA mode.  This is confirmed 2 drives, one of which is new.  Laptop

Can anyone tell me the significance of the results.

ct1,

This happens on some systems and it seems most prevalent on laptops. To test drives in these systems temporarily change the system over to SATA mode, test the drives then return to AHCI mode to boot.
