I use a laptop that sometimes shows the blue screen error on vista
it doesnt even have a year of use (brand new)
after running PCD7.5 (finally got it) I found the following error on long HD test
HDD-0 Linear Verify.....................
  Read verify error occurred at sector 354853888.
  (Reason: Uncorrectable Data Error)
  Model: Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00 / SN: 080526BB6F00WDJD3LYG / Rev: BBFOC33P
HDD-0 Linear Verify.....................FAILED  02/21/2010 22:22

Can this type of error be fixed with chkdsk/f?

Usually a chkdsk /f will mark these type of sectors as bad and attempt to move the data to a good spot.  The question is is the drive eating it's face?  I would keep an eye on it and if more show up over time send the drive back for warranty replacement.

So will this proposed solution actually repair the Biohd-4 error? Just curious.

The Biohd-4 error is a different animal than what this post was originally talking about. Biohd-4 is usually seen from an HP system while running from the recovery partition.

CHKDSK /F won't fix anything, just remaps the bad sectors to a new place.  This may allow the system to boot as long as the data that lives on the bad location is not too critical. It's worth a shot.

At any rate back up your data as soon as possible and look at replacing the drive if there are further errors.
