I am originally from Southern California and I am fairly new to Reno, can someone tell me what there is to do here besides gamble? Can someone tell me about the Night Life, Clubs, Concerts, Sporting Events etc.?

IMO the best part of living in Reno are all the outdoor activities.  Camping, hiking, skiing, biking, kayaking, it's all here!  Start with hitting some of the trails near Mt. Rose either biking or hiking.  You can't beat Tahoe and Truckee (~30-40 min away) for a great place to get some fresh air and exercise.  Check out this site for more ideas: http://www.visitrenotahoe.com/plan_your_trip/outdoors/.
Just don't think that there is nothing to do but gamble in Reno!  If you have specific activities you like, post them and we can find things to do.

As you can tell by my avatar this region is very "off-road" friendly. If you enjoy riding dirt bikes or quads (four wheelers) this is a great place to live.

Well, you already know that the casinos have gambling... did you know that almost all of the casinos in town have a variety of restaurants, night clubs, regular concerts, and various live shows? You can spend an entire weekend in some of the local casinos and never drop a penny on gambling, and still have a great time!

If you like to golf, the Reno-Tahoe area has over 17 courses available.

If you like classic cars, the annual Hot August nights series of events can be great fun. This year it runs from August 3 - August 12.

There are too many different things to do to list here... Here is a good site to give you a better picture of your options, from indoors to outdoors... http://www.newtoreno.com

WOW! www.newtoreno.com  Cheesy is a relocater's dream!
I've searched through hundreds of sites to learn about Reno when I was relocating here over 2 years ago.  Had I known about this site, I would have saved many hours surfing the web. I've been searching for things to do here as well, and didn't realize how many events I have been missing! Thanks!  Smiley
