Hello all,

I have a computer thats acting up weird.  Some times it will boot properly sometimes it'll just turn on and not show anything on the screen.
It's an Asus K8V-MX/S motherboard and it has a AMD Sempron 3100+ processor.
The bios is AMIBIOS version 08.00.09 from 05/12/2005.

I used the PC-Doctor PCI post card and it shows post code 13 when it hangs.  I looked on the postcodemaster.com site to see what the code ment and it shows ■13 - Early POST initialization of chipset registers.
Now i'm not sure what that means.

Could someone help you?

Thanks

mankie,

This is usually not good.  There is not much that can be done when systems hang early on in the process.  Replaceable systems, video, ram etc. are initialized later in the process.

See if there is a BIOS update available for the system,  if there is install it.  install the BIOS when the system is most stable (boots more reliably) i.e. If it boots more reliably when cold or warm.

Also try reseating all socketed chips as well as cards.
