I agree Kevin. I happen to feel this is probably taking it too far. I kinda like the idea about knowing where my kids are, but I can just as easily be a "parent" and watch them closely as I should be doing anyways. Privacy is a thing of the past. With the threat of terrorism and the advent of facial recognition software, we can kiss privacy good bye. Be careful where you scratch yourself!
Wow. It was only a matter of time before the classic NJ beach badge moved into the world of Big Brother. I grew up about an hour north of Ocean City. This kind of tracking bothers me and takes away from the care free nature of going to the many exciting NJ boardwalks and beaches. Combine this with 24/7 cameras (http://seasideheightstourism.com/seacam/) that anyone can watch and you've got a recipe for serious privacy invasion... Will we ever be safe from prying eyes?
Is this a public beach?
I think requiring all visitors to have this wristband is going way too far. I personally would not go to this beach for that reason. The kid thing is ok, but I would rather have my own gear for tracking my kids. I also don't like having to wire in my cell phone to their wristband system. I certainly wouldn't let them have access to my checking or credit accounts - don't even bother asking. Looks like I'll have to cancel that vacation to New Jersey... |
